MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Brandywine Photonics is a growing company in the field of Earth Observation from Space, with a mission “To observe all things weather, everywhere, all the time, for our families and generations to come.” We are looking for engineers at all levels of experience to be part of a small team working to build the next generation of optical and infrared  instruments for Earth and Mars weather observations and scientific inquiry.

 

To be a successful candidate, you need the following attributes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a high technology field or significant equivalent experience
  • Highly flexible mid-set and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of expertise in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly and incorporate these into the workflow
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to translate complex problems so that non-experts can understand the information
  • Strong attention to detail 

 

A successful candidate will have many (but not necessarily all) of the below qualifications:

  • Deep technical understanding of the development of scientific instruments 
  • Experience working with Mechanical Analysis, Mechanical Design, High Vacuum Technology, Cryogenics
  • Previous experience building complex instruments in small teams (10 years or more desirable)
  • Subject matter expertise in Mechanical Design
  • Experience Managing a small team of Mechanical Engineers 

 

Compensation is based on experience and qualifications; the salary range for this position $110,000-$150,000

Along with traditional space systems engineers, candidates with experience in biotech or process control instrumentation development are encouraged to apply.

Prospective employees must be eligible for work under US Department of Defense, NASA, and other US Government agencies including: 

  1. Following US Government mandates per our contracts on health and safety, including COVID-19 Vaccinations. 
  2. Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident to support handling Controlled Unclassified Information.
